From now on, writing poetry is barbaric, or, one can only write poetry barbarically. Or perhaps, barbarism compels us to write poetry.
In the constantly refreshing moments of iteration, artists unmistakably enter a state of trying barbarism with their own bodies. Let us boldly feel the impulses and calls they write down time and time again. Appreciate their continuous creation, exploring new movements of culture and art.
The exhibition “Poetry by barbarian” by ASE Foundation presents works by 20 contemporary Chinese artists/artist-duos. The exhibition specifically highlights artists and works that use words and textual discourse as creative media. Simultaneously, the exhibition will select some artworks from ASE’s collection of books and catalogs as “textual props” to complement and display alongside the on-site works.
