This work depicts a sculpture dating from the third century B.C., currently in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Although the portrait has been severely damaged, it still reflects the wisdom of a great philosopher.  The identity of the figure even though resembling in many ways to Aristotle (384-322 B.C.) still hasn’t been confirmed. Jade, as a unique artifact of Chinese civilization, bore different roles depending on the political and cultural context, ancient people considered that Jade possessed a natural aura, this symbol combined to the sculptural portrait of the philosopher represents the high degree of achievement of millennia civilizations.
